Ministry of Labor include more New Residents eligible for Skill certification test fee subsidy

In order to encourage specific target persons to participate in the certification of skilled technicians and to facilitate the promotion of the New Southbound Policy, the Ministry of Labor has enlarged more applicants eligible for the subsidy of certification of skilled technicians since January 1, 2018. Those foreigners or the mainland Chinese who married with Taiwanese residents and allowed to reside in Taiwan, and also meet the requirements of the terms of skills certification test fee subsidy, may apply for the test fee subsidy accordingly.

 

According to the Ministry of Labor, the current eligible recipients of the skills test fees subsidy include individuals who are single-handed bread winner, middle and old-aged unemployed, persons with disabilities, indigenous people, low- or middle-income families, rehabilitated protectors, long-term unemployed, re-entry employed women, victims of domestic violence and other designated by the Ministry of Labor, totalling 10 types of test applicants who meet the requirements of the related regulations. According to statistics, more than 40,000 subsidies have been received annually in the past two years and the annual subsidy amount is about NT$80 million. The evident impact shows that subsidy does help the test fee recipients to improve their employability after receving their technician certificates.

 

In response to the trends of economic globalization and a declining demography, to enhance the applications of national workforce professionals in Taiwan, the Ministry of Labor has included the eligible foreigners and the mainland Chinese above-mentioned to be eligible for the test fee subsidy. Ministry of Labor invite the eligible persons to apply for the subsidies, which shall be filed with the fixed format accordingly, upon the approval of the applications, the test fees including academic test fee, field test fee, and registration fee are exempted. Each eligible person can apply three times only, and once for every skill trade. Finally, the Ministry of Labor especially appealed to all walks of life to jointly promote the subsidy measures, assist those who in need and eligible persons to make good use of the administration resources.
