The 2020 lunar new year is getting near. In consideration of the needs of employers and migrant workers in Taiwan, the toll-free 1955 employee enquiry hotline of the Ministry of Labor (MOL) will continue to provide 24-hour services in multiple languages (Basha Indonesian, Vietnamese, Thai, English, and Mandarin) during the 7-day long holiday. Both employers and migrant workers can seek help by calling 1955 for any difficulties.
1955: Total solution for problems of employers and migrant workers
According to the Workforce Development Agency (WDA) of the Ministry of Labor (MOL), the 1955 hotline receives about 190,000 calls from migrant workers every year and provides uninterrupted services including legal consultation, daily life consultation, telephone interpreting, and grievance acceptance for both employers and migrant workers. Past statistics show that “labor rights” has been the most asked question of employers, migrant workers, and agents in recent years, such as the overtime pay calculation method for lunar new year, daily life consultation, and telephone interpreting. To provide help-seekers with real-time solutions and reply their questions about labor rights, the 1955 hotline will continue to provide 24-hour complete consultation, grievance, and telephone interpreting services during the lunar new year holiday in order to provide employers and migrant workers with the correct answers in real time. To protect the rights and interests of both parties, after receiving a grievance, the 1955 hotline will refer it to local labor affairs authority to investigate the case through the electronic system. In addition, for employers and migrant workers to keep track on the progress of each case ubiquitously, each complainant will be given a case number to keep track on the progress from the “Transnational Labor Rights Maintenance Website” at https://fw.wda.gov.tw.

7-24 services
The 1955 hotline will continue to provide 24-hour complete consultation, grievance, and telephone interpreting services for employers and migrant workers during the lunar new year holiday. WDA reminds employers and agents to inform migrant workers in Taiwan that they can seek help from the 1955 hotline at any time during the lunar new year holiday when there is an emergency. In addition, all service stations at international airports in Taoyuan and Kaohsiung open regularly during the lunar new year holiday. Employers picking up inbound migrant workers can make an application to the airport service station three days in advance to facilitate staff arrangement.
