Before the foreigners come to work in Taiwan, they should apply for a job permit, entrance visa and a residence permit after entry. Matters relating to foreigners working in Taiwan will be treated in accordance with the principle of national treatment, under the protection of our nation’s labor laws. Any industry applied by employer in accordance with the labor standards is also applicable.

In addition, to protect the basic human rights and working conditions of foreign personnel, the protection measures for them are as follows:

(1) The salary shall be paid in full amount:the employer shall pay the full amount of wages directly, except deductions for the expenses stipulated by law.

(2) Accessible consultation and complaints channels:

  1. 1955 Labor Consultation Line: a 24-hour, year round, bilingual and free of charge consultation and appeal service will be provided to laborers and, after the appeal case is accepted, it will be electronically dispatched to the local government for investigation and a follow-up management will be carried out for the post-handling situation.
  2. Local government consultant service center: local government shall set up an advisory service center with bilingual counselors to provide advice as well as handle complaints, disputes and other services for laborers.

(3) Inspection of illegal work and life management:local government shall set up visits to inspect the employer and foreign personnel work situation and encourage the public to report illegal cases that cause concern.
