Redesign the job of people with disabilities

Employers, do you have difficulty assisting people with disabilities to adapt to and integrate into the work environment? You can help people with disabilities through the following ways, such as improving the accessibility environment for the physically disabled or installing auxiliary visual voice navigation, vision expansion machine for vision impaired staff, or apply for a sign language translator for employees with speech and hearing disabilities. In addition, it is also possible to provide job improvement advice through the job re-design expert tutor team’s workplace files visit and evaluation who are authorized by the Workforce Development Agency, MOL.  With a personal service subsidy of up to NT100,000 Dollars, you are able to improve the work environment, work equipment, and working conditions as well as provide employment aids and adjust work methods to enable people with disabilities to overcome work obstacles and use their talents.

Basis

In accordance with the provisions of Article 37 of the “People with Disabilities Rights Protection Act”, the competent authorities of all levels in charge of labor shall propose plans and establish by themselves or consolidate the resources of the private sector to establish occupational guidance assessment, occupation redesign and entrepreneur counseling as mentioned in Paragraph 2 of Article 33.

Purpose

Through job re-design subsidies and professional counseling measures to effectively assist people with disabilities to overcome obstacles at work and improve their work efficiency, and to cooperate with professional institutions, groups and related units to jointly promote obstacle-free employment as well as actively develop employment opportunities so as to implement the employment services for the people concerned.

Qualifications for the application of job re-design subsidy

  • 1. Any public or private institutions, government agencies, schools, groups and vocational training institutions which employ people with disabilities.
  • 2. Self-employed people with disabilities.
  • 3. Public and private vocational training institutions.
  • 4. Vocational training units authorized by the government.
  • 5. Units which are authorized or subsidized by the government to implement home-employment services.
  • 6. Some employment aids could be applied for by people with disabilities themselves.

Service items of job redesign

  • 1. To improve the workplace environment: refers to improvements to accessibility of work environment in order to assist the employment of people with disabilities.
  • 2. To improve the work equipment or machinery: refers to the improvement of work equipment or machinery for people with disabilities in order to facilitate their adaptation to employment and improve productivity. 
  • 3. To provide the necessary aids for employment: refers to auxiliary aids required by people with disabilities in increasing, maintaining and improving their employment abilities. 
  • 4. To improve working conditions: refers to the provision of work assistance required by people with disabilities in improving their working ability, which includes the provision of a sign language translator, listening and typing services, vision assistance or job related human assistance related etc.
  • 5. To adjust working methods: through vocational assessment and training and, according to the characteristics of people with disabilities, assigned appropriate work, including: work reorganization, the deployment of other employees to cooperate with the disabled people, simplify work process, adjust workplace site, and avoid dangerous work.
