WorldSkills Competition has been organized by WorldSkills International since1950 in Spain, which its Secretariat is located in the Netherlands and now has more than 70 member countries/ regions. As largest skills competition on the planet, WorldSkills Competition offers a unique opportunity for young people to learn and compete each other, strengthening international exchange of information and practices on Vocational training and education, with the aim of enhancing further development of vocational training and education in each country.

Held once every two years, WorldSkills Competition draws hundreds of thousands of people and the media to watch the competition. Taiwan, a member of WorldSkills International, has participated in this event since the 20th WorldSkills Competition in 1971, having excellent performance. Besides, Taiwan hosted the 32nd WorldSkills Competition in Taipei from July 19 to August 2, 1993.
