On November 29, 2017, the Ministry of Labor (MOL) loosened the eligibility requirements for the “Regulations for Start-up Assistance for the Unemployed of Employment Insurance”. Now, unemployed* citizens that have registered as the proprietor of a business are eligible to apply for the loan. Up to a maximum of NT$ 1 million can be loaned with a repayment period of 7 years without a guarantor or collateral. For the first 3 years, borrowers are exempt from paying interest and from the 4th year onwards the interest rate is fixed at 1.5%.

What’s more, the MOL offers training courses to build entrepreneurs’ management, financial and marketing skills and also provides business consulting services to support entrepreneurs on each stage of their business. We welcome you to make use of these programs to develop a successful and sustainable business.

* To certify the applicant’s status as “unemployed”, the applicant must not be registered on employment insurance for at least 14 days before the registration date of being the proprietor of a business.
