Entering the first job changing season of 2020, we face the current outbreak of the Wuhan coronavirus. The Ministry of Labor would like to encourage those who are currently looking for employment and others looking to employ people to utilize the TaiwanJobs website (www.taiwanjobs.gov.tw) or toll-free customer service hotline 0800-777-888 to gain access to more information without having to travel outdoors.

The TaiwanJobs website created by the Ministry of Labor combines employment service, vocational training, skill evaluation, and start-up service information. It also provides free online career evaluation tools and  job introductions. This provides people at home with access to multiple services on one website. Learning more about personal career preferences, professional environments, and other government service resources will give you an advantage when job hunting, thus creating smoother job transitions. Statistics show that the TaiwanJobs website, processes over 700 thousand resumes and over 1.2 million job opportunities annually, offering a wide pool of talents and vacancies to choose from.

Additionally, we would like to address to those applying for unemployment benefits, that under the Employment Insurance Act, you must personally visit the Institution of Public Employment Services and apply for unemployment confirmation. If you are unable to apply for an application in person due to illness or injury reasons, there is an additional 2-year window after unwilling unemployment. For those who have already received unemployment benefits, rules state that you must make monthly personal visits to the Institution of Public Employment Services to apply for Re-confirmation for Unemployment in order to continue receiving unemployment benefits. If you are unable to apply in person because of instructions from a doctor or if you are currently under therapy, you are still granted eligibility to receive benefits under 2 years. It is required to provide a diagnosis from a medical institution if you wish to have another individual represent you.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Labor would like to remind employers and employees who need to visit the Institution of Public Employment Services that you can visit the TaiwanJobs website (www.taiwanjobs.gov.tw) and fill out your resume and other relevant information first to save time. If you have any further questions, we encourage you to dial 0800-777-888 to make use of our toll-free 24-hour customer service hotline!
