The demand for caregivers soars year by year in an aging society with low birthrates. To address the need, Workforce Development Agency of Ministry of Labor encourages our citizens to become certified caregivers. In an additional effort to increase the supply of quality caregiving services, Workforce Development Agency makes available a read-out-loud examination assistance service to foreign workers who participate in a skill certification exam for caregivers, during which the exam questions will be read out loud in Mandarin in order to help foreign workers who can communicate in Chinese become certified caregivers. The service will be available to all national skill certification exams starting from 2019.

Workforce Development Agency states the new read-out-loud assistance service is a step up from the existing continuing education programs for foreign nurse aides. Employers are strongly encouraged to help their foreign employees to strengthen and expand their expertise in delivery of professional and quality care services by becoming certified. The national skill certification examination information packages are available for sale as of December 25, 2018, in all Family Mart, Hi-Life and OK Mart locations across the country. Examination registration is available from January 2 to 11, 2019. Employers are welcome to help the employees apply for the read-out-loud examination assistance service while registering for the certification exam.

The read-out-loud examination assistance service is also available to foreign workers who participate in the skill certification exams for forklift truck operation and fixed crane operation.
